2015 - A year of learning .

Hi Friends,

2015 has been a great year of learning to me. I just wanted to jot down the lessons learnt this year here.

1.     Be a giver.
Be a Giver- Giver of love, giver of Hope, giver of kindness. My friend usually says “God has correctly placed the Gifting chip in you, except that no chip is working fine “. I laugh and say that is what is required more and that is what has earned me people.
I really don’t give out of expectation. If you do so, it is just an exchange not a gift.
Give generously. Generous people are happy people.

2.     Treat yourself the way you treat your best friend.
I read this topic somewhere and it is thoughtful isn’t it? People who speak very optimistically with so much love and care to their best friends, often miss to give that little kindness to them. You definitely know how much your loving, caring, kind and encouraging words makes a difference in your friend’s life. Then why can’t you apply this demeanour to yourself?
I am a good encourager for others. When it comes to me I turn a pessimist. This year after reading this line- “treat yourself the way you treat your best friend “ I have changed a lot and I respect me which feels good.

3.     Acceptance.
I said in my previous post. Accept people as they are. Just try loving someone as they are. You will really be astounded to see how they transform as the greatest and truest version of themselves.

4.     Believe in Everything Happens for a reason.
Believe that everything happens for a reason and that reason is for good. Things may not happen as you wish today. Remember, our courage doesn’t always roar aloud.  Sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day whispering, “I will try again tomorrow.”  Have the mettle to say everything happens for good.  Things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things turn out.

5.     Hospitality is love in action.
I always had a pride that it is our family which is first in hospitality. I always boasted that no one can treat the guests like my parents and their siblings do. But recently I am dumbstruck with the way I was invited to my friend’s place. Really, no riches in the world can equate the warm welcome I received. Their home is small yet I was welcomed like a queen. They do not have a dining table but the food served was sumptuous by itself. They taught me that Hospitality is not inviting people into our perfect homes. It is about inviting people into our perfect hearts. Hospitality is love in action.

With all these lessons and also from a lifetime lesson which is “love is the alpha and omega of our existence” I am eagerly looking forward for 2016.

What did you learn this year? Share your thoughts.

Contest now!!!

Yesterday suddenly a friend of mine asked me this question.
“Tell me which is the most funniest / stupid question you have ever asked a in your life? Thinking about which makes you laugh now?”

That was a good question. I skimmed through my elephantine memory and got 2 questions.

First was, when I was 7 Years old. I was talkative and sometimes was even a brat.

One of my relative, a distant uncle of mine was drenched in debts it seems. He had written a letter mentioning about attempting suicide because of his debts. I heard this from my mother when she was speaking about this to my father. At that moment I overlooked it and continued with my work.

Few months later it happened that I met that uncle in a family function.
“What uncle? You said that you are going to die because of debts and you are still alive?”
I asked him this question in a candid manner. He turned weary with my single question that he could not even answer me.

My mother heard me asking this and I was caught.I saw my mother and it was a moment of adrenalin rush for me.  She admonished me and thank god she did not beat me.
When I think of that question I really feel it was the most stupid question I ever asked someone in my life.

The Second question was when I was at my teens.

Until then LOVE the very word was a-bad-word thing for us (me and my cousins). When we stepped to teen age our minds underwent a subtle change. At that age LOVE was something good. Don’t mistake me. Our definition for love was “Love is a good thing. Love doesn’t mean only that thing which happens due to hormonal change in a girl
& a boy. It can mean affection, kindness (anbu –paasam-nesam etc etc) . “
We’d proudly say “Yes! We are in Love. Love with our parents, sisters, and brothers blah blah blah “(we’ve almost repeated the above dialogue million times).

Me-brilliant –kid on earth was invincible at that age. No one could argue with me. I always won the conversational fights. (It is pertinent to note that if it was a kick fight – I was a weakling at that age and so obviously I would be the loser. I win only in conversational fights.)

I was studying in a tution centre. We had an in-charge person there who was strictu! Strictu! Strictu! One day when me and my brother were chatting with him. Suddenly I asked that –in-charge-person  “Sir do you love anyone?” (He was a bachelor –point to be noted).
He replied: No! I don’t like these love-and-all stuffs.
Me: Why don’t you like? Love is not a bad word. You see at this age I love.
Yes! I love my mom, dad, sister and my brother…. Like that whom do you love?
His reply : mmmm… That’s not a relevant topic now. You answer me for that 5th essay question in 4th chapter now.
Me: (valiantly) started studying that question.

That was the end of that topic with him. At that point of time I have asked this question to everyone I know and have given my view of love verbatim to everyone. That was what I wanted to ask. That was how I wanted to win him with my brilliant speech. I won.

But that stupid question which I had asked  made him feel nam-dhana-nam-dhana melody in his heart it seems. Voila, he fell in love with me. From that day he started showing the symptoms of a man who is in love. His best friend was also a teacher in that academy and she found out this.

She has told this to my science teacher who happened to be my favorite teacher. (More than a teacher he was a friend). All the teachers in that academy started teasing me. It was at that point I realized I’ve not been brilliant in speaking with him but I’ve been a stupid for asking such a question with him.

From that day I really did not have the guts to ask anyone as whether they love anyone. (Especially to guys). Till date I hesitate to ask that single question.

These are the 2 questions which gets the “Most stupid question award” in my life. Is there any question in your life which can win this title? If so, feel free to post it here. I would love to read them. Best contestant would get a Kuchi mittai and Kuruvi Rotti too !!!!!
Camon! Hurry up!! I am waiting to read your stupid questions .

Copying in Exam

Friends
This is a new variety. A platform to share your memorable moments. Read the story and start rewinding your life too.

No one can deny if I say that school days are the best part in anyone’s life. They are the golden period where each moment was cherished and gave many lessons of life.

I hate copying in exams. I usually ask the answer directly and would write. I won’t look at papers. But I loved to help my friends. I used to show them my answer sheet and would tell them the answer if they cannot see my paper. You see I've always been a sweet heart :-)

My elder sister ‘P’ is opposite to me. She won’t look into others papers and she won’t let others to look at hers. She won’t help them too. In my school, from class 6th to 10th would write exams in a big hall. Once it happened that one of my sisters ‘R’ was sitting in front of me and the other ‘P’ (whom I mentioned before) was behind me. They both were studying same class. I completed my exam soon and was checking the paper again. I noticed that ‘R’ was thinking so much and seemed helpless. Me- Kind creature on earth- asked her what was that she needed.

Immediately she showed me Part- C in question paper. I couldn't see what was that. We exchanged question papers. It was a proverb translation. That proverb was beyond my ken but somehow my angel instinct told me to help her out. I knew about ‘P’. She won’t show the answer nor would she tell that. I acted very casually that I turned to her and smiled. She gave a moment’s smile and continued writing. I peeped at her paper to see the answer. But I couldn't.  She was writing an essay it seems and question paper was kept aside for a while. I casually took the question paper as if I am keen to read the senior’s question paper. She did not utter a word.

Uh… slowly I surfed through that paper (acted like surfing) and once I came to Part-C , I asked her the translation in a nonchalant manner. She gave a fierce look and said “Don’t try to act smart. She(R) asked you for the answer uh? If not, I’ll tell you after the exam. It is not that important as you should know the translation now. Give me the question paper or else I’ll complain to the teacher. Mind it!!”

I was caught. Perhaps I lack acting skills. Enakku nadikka theriyadhunga :-P
Without revealing the pain of getting caught I gave the question paper and I did not turn back till the bell rang. She is such a unique piece my mind voice uttered. I couldn't help R that day.

I cannot end this post without sharing another incident which I heard from a friend of mine. My friend was in the exam hall. Board Exams – that was geography. While marking the places in map he got confused as where to mark Mumbai. He immensely tried to recall his memory but it was vain. He badly wanted to score full marks in Map as that was the last hope for him to get pass marks in the subject. He tried copying but he failed in that attempt too. Overcoming his inhibition, he just called the boy sitting beside him and asked “hey! Tell me soon -Where is Mumbai?” The other boy was fully tensed as he had only few minutes left to hand over the answer sheets. He was irked when my friend questioned him in the eleventh hour. He replied with a tone of anger “ Enna? Mumbai ah? India la dhaan ya  irukku” (Translation: What? Mumbai uh? It is in India only man) and continued his writing.

My friend readily took the map to mark and barely realized the reply he got from that boy.
Bell rang by the time he realized and paper was handed over with an India Map-without Mumbai.
Even today he remembers that boy and cannot forget his reply at that peak moment.

Is there any memorable incident relating to ‘copying’ in your life? If so feel free to share in this Blog. I would love to read yours.
